BC/A : Architecture + Design
About the designer of the Goat House development:
BC/A, formerly Beam Cottage Architects, was established by award-winning architect and creative Simon Shaw. Trained at the University of Edinburgh and the Barlett School of Architecture under the mentorship of Archigram luminary Professor Peter Cook, Simon's architectural journey began and continues with a deep commitment to innovation, design and craft.
His career took him from architectural accolades in London and Jamaica to crafting global brand experiences for iconic names like Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Land Rover. Simon's expertise eventually led him into the dynamic world of advertising and communications, where he currently serves as the Global Chief Creative & Innovation Officer at a prominent international communications agency.
In this role, Simon advises global corporations on creative, sustainability, and communication strategies, spanning diverse sectors, including new energy, technology, retail and transportation. His unique perspective, informed by an in-depth understanding of global environmental systems, has profoundly shaped his architectural approach.
Simon's passion for architecture reignited when he relocated to Buckinghamshire with his family. The re-design of his family residence, Beam Cottage, a Grade II listed property, garnered accolades, including the AVDC Design Awards and LABC Awards. Simon's dedication to architectural excellence, and preservation in historical contexts made Beam Cottage a widely published exemplar.

Simon continues to design one-off architecture pieces while continuing his advertising career. After a fire at his daughters’ school, he re-designed Dinton School. The pro-bono project was awarded building of the year in the AVDC design awards.
Recognised for his expertise, Simon was invited to serve on the AVDC Award Design Panel for several years, where he adjudicated awards across the region.
Today, BC/A has an unwavering commitment to design excellence, sustainability, and innovation. The latest project, The Goat House development, comprises of three contemporary and sustainable homes. Plots 1 & 2 are designed to have the potential to meet Passive House standards, while the more bespoke Plot 3, The Goat House, is focused on sustainability, craft and experimentation in architecture.
“In a world where we are surrounded by ‘anywhere’ architecture, the Goat House scheme aspires to be an example of where architectural excellence, sustainability, and innovation converge to redefine a modern development.”
